Ramanathan Iyer
“I feel this culture of the sabha-s themselves giving ‘All are welcome’ concerts should be gradually phased out.”
Providing a listener’s perspective, Sri. Ramanathan Iyer says if all stakeholders do their respective parts, he would be eager to attend physical concerts now. As a curator of artistic events, in addition to his hats as ardent listener and photographer, he further expounds, with characteristic candour, on the entire thought process behind concerts and concert organisation. He hopes this hiatus has given every stakeholder – artiste, organiser and listener – time to rethink, reflect on and refresh, their approaches to artistic events, for the collective benefit of the whole.
This video is part of the Melodies during Maladies podcast. After almost two full months of worldwide quarantine due to COVID, restrictions gradually began loosening in May 2020. In this podcast, musicians, concert organisers and audience members share their thoughts on getting back to physical concerts.
